NEW YORK — After federal reports gave a mixed read on the U.S. recovery, oil prices Thursday settled close to where they began. Benchmark crude prices fluctuated as traders digested the news, rising to $106.69 a barrel before dropping back. The contract for May delivery fell 15 cents to settle at $105.60 a barrel in New York.
