Planet Bluegrass has announced some major additions to the lineup for the 21st annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, Colo.
Headlining the show will be a new trio comprised of Grateful Dead front man Bob Weir, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson and singer/guitarist Jackie Greene, who has previously played with Phil Lesh and Friends. This will be the group’s first show as a trio. Robinson previously played the Folks Festival in 2003.
Other artists who have been added to the bill include singer/guitarist Martin Sexton, Anais Mitchell, Livingston Taylor, Vance Gilbert, and Red Horse, comprised of Eliza Gilkyson, John Gorka and Lucy Kaplansky. These names join previously announced acts Brandi Carlile, Josh Ritter and the Royal City Band and Carolina Chocolate Drops, among others.
Last year was the first year in its history that Folks Festival sold out all three days. In recent years, the “Planet” has been working to bring a more diverse lineup to the festival and carve out a unique identity for Folks.
