Lafayette police say a 10-year-old boy is expected to be charged with felony menacing after he reportedly found a BB gun Thursday afternoon and brought it onto the playground at Alicia Sanchez Elementary School, where police say he threatened other students.

The boy, who lives in the neighborhood surrounding Sanchez and is a student at the school, located at 655 Sir Galahad Drive, pointed the gun at other students after bringing it onto the playground, according to officials with the Lafayette Police Department and the Boulder Valley School District.

The students who were threatened on Thursday afternoon, who also were 10 years old, told a school counselor Friday morning about the altercation, and Sanchez Principal Doris Candelarie called police, according to Boulder Valley spokesman Briggs Gamblin.
