University of Colorado President Bruce Benson is recommending that the traditional journalism school on the Boulder campus be shut down but that CU continue to allow students to earn a degree in journalism — as long as it’s coupled with another major.
Benson’s recommendation is consistent with the “Journalism Plus” plan that campus leaders have recommended.
In an interview Monday, he said he’s urging the regents to vote on the matter this week. A vote could come as early as Friday.
“I think we’ve beat this dead horse to death,” he said. “We need to get this done so they can move ahead and start enhancing the program.”
