A Lafayette man suspected in a series of burglaries in Boulder County was arrested after becoming cornered in a house he allegedly broke into this morning, police said.
After more than an hour inside the home in the 600 block of East Cleveland Street, Lawrence Augustine Sanchez, 32, came out at about 11 a.m. and lay face down on the lawn to surrender, according to police.
Neighbors saw him break into the home at about 9:40 a.m. and called police.
Lafayette police surrounded the home and called for the man inside to come out, with no success, until the Boulder County SWAT officers arrived.
He is suspected in breaking into a home a block away, as well as “numerous burglaries” in the Old Town Lafayette area, the city of Boulder and in Boulder County, police said in a media release.
Public records show Sanchez has been arrested several times on burglary, theft, drugs and forgery charges.
