DENVER—Denver City Councilwoman Carla Madison has died after battling cancer.
A statement released by her family says Madison died Tuesday night at age 54 with her family beside her.
Madison was born in Denver and raised in Golden.
Her family says she held a master’s degree in physical therapy from Boston University and was a physical therapist for years, but also had worked as a hot air balloon pilot and a costumer in theater. Her husband, Paul Weiss, says Madison was a world traveler and had a “selfless dedication to service.”
