Disbelief is the only way to describe how Nancy Lindsey felt when she checked her bank account.
Someone stole a $25 donation check from the Lindsey family’s mailbox in Littleton and then stole a Colorado driver’s license from her neighbor’s mailbox down the street.
Apparently, that information was enough for the thieves to have a printing company create a batch of checks with Lindsey’s account information and send them via overnight mail.
“Once they got the checks they started going to 7-Eleven and King Soopers,” Lindsey said. “$200 here, $200 there, amounting to about $1,100.”
An incident report confirmed the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating, although a spokesperson was unable to verify specific details of the case Sunday.
