DENVER—Denver police say the body of a man found in a large Denver trash bin might have been the victim of a homicide.

Police said Thursday that a woman found the body in a Dumpster in a Denver alley. The woman told The Denver Post that she was taking out the garbage when she noticed something sticking out of the trash and realized it was a hand.

Officials say an autopsy is pending, but it looks like it was a homicide. Police say the 73-year-old victim appears to have suffered a gunshot wound.

Police initially called the death suspicious, but then called it a homicide investigation.
