At a time when many owners and players are sweating over the recent NFL lockout, Tim Tebow is staying cool under pressure.

Tebow, a Denver Broncos quarterback, is the face of a new underwear line for Jockey unveiled early last week. The undergarment company paired with Outlast Technologies of Boulder to launch the Jockey staycool collection for men and women — briefs, panties and undershirts that regulate skin temperature.

The new line uses phase-change materials to keep the wearer’s skin feeling up to 3 degrees cooler. The materials, or Thermocules, are applied to the inside of the fabric and absorb excess heat from the body, creating a cooler microclimate between the skin and the fabric.

“In Colorado weather, where we go from snow to 70 degrees, this product is very versatile,” said Outlast sales and marketing director Heather Manuel. “You don’t have to layer as much. It works for an athlete, it works for a stay-at-home mom, it works for lounging around the house.”
