PUEBLO, Colo.—A well-known document center is being renamed after the congressman who fought to bring it to southern Colorado.

The Pueblo Chieftain reported Tuesday the Public Documents Distribution Center in Pueblo will be changing its name in honor of the late Frank Evans.

Evans was elected to represent Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District in 1964 and served for 14 years. He died last year at 86.

The center was built in 1971 after Evans fought with federal agencies to place the building in a rural town. It employs 165 people and receives so much mail that it has its own ZIP code.

The legislation to rename the document center was sponsored by former Rep. John Salazar and U.S. Senators Mark Udall and Michael Bennet.
