Vestas Wind Technology facilities in Colorado will produce all the blades and nacelles for a 104-megawatt order for turbines for a wind energy project in Canada, Vestas announced today.
The contract includes delivery and commissioning along with a 10-year service and management agreement for for 58 V90-1.8 megawatt turbines, according to Vestas, the world’s biggest turbine manufacturer.
“Vestas is delighted to have been chosen to work with our customer to add an additional 104 megawatts of wind power to the Canadian electricity market,” said Martha Wyrsch, president of Vestas Americas.
She said the project will help fuel Canada’s economic growth and also help the country meet its clean energy goals.
The V90-1.8 MW is designed to operate at sites with medium-wind conditions.
Vestas has supplied 1,021 turbines to Canada totaling 1,683 megawatts of installed wind capacity as of Dec. 31.
