Getting your player ready...

Three of Ty Wigginton’s RBIs came via a home run. But it was his other RBI that he wanted to talk about. It came on a mild-mannered groundball in the fifth inning that would have been an inning-ending double play if Seth Smith hadn’t been running on the play, allowing him to reach second. Wigginton drove in Troy Tulowitzki, and Jose Morales followed with a double to drive in Smith. “You’re not always going to hit,” said Wigginton, “but this team does a great job of manufacturing runs.”

First things first.

Before the series, the Rockies had outscored their opponents 18-4 in the first inning. Make it 18-14, after the Giants scored 10 in the first inning in the three games, seven coming on three home runs.

Catching on.

Morales has started four games behind the plate, all Rockies victories. The starting pitchers in those four games: Jorge De La Rosa, Alan Johnson and Greg Reynolds twice.
