FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—Authorities in northern Arizona have arrested a man wanted in Colorado for an alleged sexual assault involving a minor.
Coconino County Sheriff’s deputies say 59-year-old Donald Gene Darras was taken into custody Thursday evening at a hotel.
He’s being held at the county’s detention facility on a $100,000 bond pending extradition to Pueblo, Colo.
Arizona authorities were alerted earlier Thursday by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office that Darras was in Coconino County.
Deputies began searching in the Valle area and eventually found his vehicle parked in an area near highways 180 and 64 but hidden from view.
The U.S. Marshals Service and officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted in the search. Authorities say Darras was located at the Grand Canyon Inn and arrested without incident.
