Pete Vinton, the developer of the Rocky Mountain Airpark, died in an air crash east of Parker near the facility on Saturday.
A woman who answered the phone at his home said Vinton was deceased before handing the phone to a man, who said “yes, we believe so,” when asked if Vinton was on the two person plane.
The pilot and a passenger both died in the accident at about 3 p.m. on Saturday.
The airpark includes residential lots near a small runway, with sales targeted at people who own small planes.
Dave Plucker, 64, a flight instructor and friend of Vinton’s, said Vinton was giving a flying lesson when the plane went down at about 3 p.m.
Plucker said he was scheduled to give that lesson, but felt sick on Saturday. “I lost a very good friend,” he said.
