Williamson wins by TKO.
Aurora boxer DaVarryl Williamson on Saturday earned his first victory in the ring since 2009 after the 42-year-old heavyweight stopped Florida’s Michael Marrone with a seventh- round TKO in Los Angeles. The fight was part of an undercard before a bantamweight championship bout that aired on Showtime.
Williamson (27-6-0, 23 knockouts) knocked down the 25-year-old Marrone (19-3-0) with a right hand to the head in the fourth round, then put him away in the seventh with a series of shots.
In 2004, Williamson fought for the heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitschko in Las Vegas, losing a controversial split decision after Klitschko was unable to continue after the fifth round because of a severe cut.
