A 4th Judicial District Court judge refused a public defender’s request today to reduce the bond set for the woman accused in the dragging death of tow truck driver Allen Rose, the Gazette reports.
Judge Jann Dubois cited multiple cases involving traffic violations in which Detra Farries failed to appear in Denver courts as the reason for denying a reduction of Farries’ $50,000 bond to $10,000.
In a previous hearing, Farris’ public defender argued that her current bail is five times higher than the normal amount for her charges. Rose’s widow has opposed reducing that amount.
Farries is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident and vehicular homicide. Her case is set for a preliminary hearing May 13.
