LAKEWOOD — A Stein Elementary School fourth-grader was arrested Monday after he allegedly shot at least six of his classmates with a BB gun he brought to class.
Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis said the 10-year-old boy fired the BB gun while the teacher was looking away. None of the children was injured, although one had a small red lump where she had been hit by a BB.
The boy was driven to the police station by a relative. There he was booked on municipal assault and dangerous missile charges. The boy and his parents will appear in court in June.
Jefferson County School District spokeswoman Lynn Setzer said bringing a weapon to school and firing it is an automatic expulsion.
