It sounds like perfect typecasting: Hugh Grant may step into the Charlie Sheen role on “Two and a Half Men.”

Imagine the British film star, who has a history of rogue behavior himself, picking up the part played by bad-boy Sheen until this spring.

Classier than the original, but just as saucy.

If the buzz is right and the financials come together, the announcement of Grant’s hiring would likely be considered a victory by the network and producers versus the loudly complaining Sheen. Not winning.

A report Wednesday on the website Deadline Hollywood said the show’s producer, Warner Bros., had been pursuing Grant for the role. Any deal would need completion before next week’s unveiling of the CBS fall lineup in New York.
