DENVER—A man accused of falsifying the driver’s licenses of at least 1,500 people who took tests at the American Driving Academy has been indicted by a federal grand jury.
U.S. attorney spokesman Jeff Dorschner said in a statement Wednesday Dennis Sieving, 53, has been charged with 21 counts of mail fraud and bribery. He said Sieving was arrested earlier in the day.
The Colorado Department of Revenue revoked the licenses to protect public safety.
Immigration officials said they began investigating when the Department of Motor Vehicles noticed an anomaly in the licenses they were issuing. Too many were going to the same address and predominantly to Burmese citizens.
Sieving told KUSA-TV he was contacted by the federal officials two months ago and accused of falsifying paperwork. He denied the allegations.
