FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A former teacher convicted of having sexual contact with an underage student during a school trip and later caught violating the terms of her probation is headed back to jail.
The Denver Post reported that a judge revoked the probation of 34-year-old Carrie Day McCandless on Thursday because she tested positive for morphine. He sentenced her to 60 days in jail and ordered her to undergo an additional 60 days of unsupervised probation.
In 2007, the former Brighton high school teacher pleaded guilty and sentenced to 45 days in jail for unlawful sexual conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She was fired from her job at the charter school where her husband was the principal.
