ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo.—Federal investigators are looking into what caused a single-engine plane to crash in southwestern Wyoming, killing both men on board.
Sheriff’s officials identified the two on the plane as pilot Gilmer Mickey of Englewood, Colo., and Bob Albert of Fort Collins, Colo.
Steven Shute of Glenwood Springs, Colo. told The Denver Post that he and Mickey co-owned Pinedale Natural Gas and that Albert was a consultant for the company.
The plane was found in Sweetwater County about 45 miles north of Rock Springs at around noon Thursday. Authorities say the plane left Pinedale at 10 a.m. Wednesday and was headed to Fort Collins.
A spokesman for the FAA says the investigation into the crash has begun but that such investigations can take weeks or even months.
