A man died in his cell early this morning within hours after being treated at an Aurora hospital and being cleared to return to the jail, authorities say.
Aurora police arrested Anthony Dominic DeDora on Friday for a violation of a court order, according to a news release by the city of Aurora.
DeDora was taken to the Medical Center of Aurora at 4 p.m. and treated for an unspecified medical condition, the release says.
He was treated and released from the hospital shortly after midnight.
According to medical documents, he was listed as being medically stable for jail, the release says.
But hours later during a routine cell check, an officer found him “unresponsive.”
Paramedics were called immediately. He was taken to the same hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the news release says.
Police are investigating DeDora’s death.
