The last person known to have seen 19-year-old Kenia Monge before she disappeared on April 1 has been extradited from Texas back to Colorado and was officially charged Tuesday in Jefferson County District Court.
Travis Forbes – who calls himself the main suspect in the missing-teen case – has not been charged with her disappearance. Denver Police do not call him a suspect.
Instead, Forbes was charged with allegedly stealing a car from Wheat Ridge, Colorado and driving it to Austin, Texas, where police found and arrested him in earlier in May. The charge of first-degree aggravated motor-vehicle theft is a felony and carries a penalty of two to six years in prison, according to a spokeswoman for the First Judicial District.
Forbes was also charged with misdemeanor theft, contempt of court, domestic violence, driving under revocation, no proof of insurance and driving with expired plates, according to Jacki Kelli, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
