Skateboarder Dyrdek at FlatIron Crossing

Saturday. Heads up, skater boys and girls: Skateboarding star Rob Dyrdek visits Broomfield as part of the Journeys Backyard BBQ Tour. He’ll be hanging out outside FlatIron Crossing, meeting fans and signing autographs. The tour also features BMX, motocross and skateboarding demonstrations, plus live music. Noon to 7 p.m., 1 W. Take a walk or a ride during Arvada Trails Day

Saturday. Hit the road at Arvada Trails Day. Held at two locations, the outdoorsy event includes many types of trail-related fun, including two 5K walks and a 20-mile bike ride. Start the day at either Majestic View Nature Center or Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge. Both will feature live animal demonstrations and educational activities. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Majestic View Nature Center, 7030 Garrison St., Arvada; Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge, east of Kipling Street on West 80th Avenue, Arvada. (Bike ride begins at 9 a.m. at Majestic View.) Admission is free.

Lakewood’s return to the last century

Saturday. Get a taste of 20th-century Lakewood at the Rockin’ Block Party at Lakewood’s Heritage Center. Free tours of the Heritage Center’s historic buildings, then game time from 5 to 7 p.m. The evening begins with a concert by 1980s tribute act Into the Groove, followed by an outdoor screening of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” 10 a.m. to about 10:30 p.m. Lakewood’s Heritage Center, 801 S. Hot chili and cool brews start summer in Aspen

Through Saturday. Summer in the mountains gets off to a spicy start at the Snowmass Chili Pepper and Brew Fest. The two-day party features tastings of hot chili and refreshing microbrews. Tastings are open to the public and festivalgoers vote for the “People’s Choice Award” via text messages. Live music starts on the slopeside stage afterward. 4:30-10 tonight and 2-10 p.m. Saturday. Boyz, Men and the CSO

Sunday. Using record sales as a gauge, Boyz II Men are the most successful R&B group of all time, having sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. Their hits include “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” and “A Song for Mama.” The vocal trio (original member Michael McCary left the group in 2003) will team with the Colorado Symphony for a concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex. $32-$85. 303-623-7876 or . John James Audubon’s “The Birds of America”

Saturday. John James Audubon is one of those artists who need no introduction. An exhibition of 40 of his original prints, including a selection from “The Birds of America,” along with a group of paintings and artifacts, goes on view Saturday at the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center, 400 Quail Road. Oui! C’est vrai! It’s that time again

Starting Thursday. The Denver Film Society’s four-day mini-festival J’Adore! Focus on French-Language Cinema arrives, bringing with it receptions, a celebration of director Claude Chabrol and films from France, Belgium, Quebec and more. It opens with Philippe Le Guay’s “Service Entrance.” Set in the 1960s, the downstairs/upstairs comedy follows the conservative master of the house to the servants quarters, where a group of Spanish housekeepers reside. Friday, directors Stephanie Chuat and Veronique Reymond will be in town for “The Little Room,” their debut narrative feature (and Switzerland’s entry for last year’s Oscar) about aging, independence and connection. The hills are alive with the sounds of Lyons

Through the weekend. The Sounds of Lyons, which is returning this weekend for its third season, is rooted in classical music but offers a fascinating mix of styles and genres. One of the featured performers, for example, is the Thyme Quintet, with the unusual instrumental combination of violin, banjo, guitar, nyckelharpa (a Swedish folk instrument) and viola da gamba. “Footloose, the Musical” free at Founders Green

Through June 11. For the second straight summer, Stapleton MCA is presenting free, family-friendly musical theater at Founders Green, East 29th Avenue and Quebec Street. Like the 1984 Kevin Bacon film that inspired it, “Footloose, The Musical” follows the story of a boy who moves with his mother to a small town where dancing is prohibited by law. You’ll hear familiar songs from the movie (“The Girl Gets Around,” “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and the title tune) with original songs written for the stage adaptation.
