GREELEY, Colo.—A 19-year-old convicted of sexual assault for having sex with a 12-year-old Greeley girl later found dead has been sentenced to eight years to life in prison.
A jury in March convicted Montoya of having sex with Kayleah (kay-lee-uh) Wilson when he was an adult. Montoya’s lawyer said he’s innocent because he said the two had sex when Montoya was still a juvenile. Kayleah went missing. The girl’s slaying remains unsolved.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office says Montoya faces a minimum 20 years parole if he is released from prison after serving a minimum eight years in prison.
Kayleah Wilson was missing for two months before her body was found in a ditch in Greeley on May 19.
