At 12:54 this afternoon the suspect entered the Bank of the West at 3102 S. Sheridan Blvd., before running into an adjacent Home Depot, said Detective John White, spokesman for the Denver Police Department.
Police secured the shopping area near Sheridan Boulevard and Hampden Avenue, and officers watched all the exits on the building.
Additional sources including Denver Metro SWAT team were called to clear the building, but the suspect was not found and is still at large.
No one confirmed seeing any weapons and it is not known if the suspect left the bank with any money.
The man was described as being in his 40s to 50s, 6 feet 2 inches tall with a slim build and weighing about 190 pounds. He was seen wearing a plaid shirt.
