LA JUNTA, Colo.—Officials say at least four wildfires are burning in southeastern Colorado, including one at Fort Carson’s Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site which has scorched at least 39 square miles.

Several air tankers, a helicopter, several engines and hand crews are fighting the fire. Base spokesman Randy Tisor said Wednesday another fire on the site has burned about 3,500 acres on the training site and national forest land in Las Animas County.

Fire spokeswoman Jessica Tillapaugh says a fire near La Junta has reached an estimated 9,000 acres and is 10 percent contained. Three structures are threatened and have been evacuated.

Tillapaugh said another fire in Las Animas County is about 2,500 acres and 90 percent contained. Three structures are threatened, but none has burned.

A small, but quickly moving wildfire near Wrights Reservoir in Teller County has led authorities to recommend evacuations at a subdivision.
