Denver Mayor-elect Michael Hancock said this morning he’ll host a series of neighborhood celebrations throughout Denver following his swearing-in as the city’s 45th mayor on July 18th. That day will conclude with an inaugural celebration, which, tentatively, will be held at City Park.
“We’re calling it DenverTogether if some people can’t make the inaugural, we’ll be in their neighborhood,” Hancock said.
Hancock’s actual inauguration ceremony will be held at the Buell Theater.
Late last week, members of Hancock’s transition team appeared before the Denver Board of Ethics and was given the OK to begin a separate inauguration committee; that group, similar to one formed by John Hickenlooper after his election as governor, will be allowed to conduct fundraising to help pay for the events.
Hancock said he wasn’t sure how many people will be allowed to attend the celebration, likely a barbeque, at City Park. Details of Hancock’s inauguration events will be available on the committee’s website,
