Jose Morales had your basic crazy day at the yard. His personal laundry list: a passed ball, a throwing error, a catcher’s interference call and a foul tip off his right hand that sent him writhing in pain before he threw out Jason Bartlett trying to steal. Oh, and Morales also had his fourth two-hit game this season.
Tulo too aggressive.
Troy Tulowitzki hates to lose, but sometimes he gets overzealous trying to help the Rockies win. Tulowitzki was thrown out by 10 feet trying to advance to third on a groundball to shortstop Jason Bartlett. Two innings later, Tulo was doubled off first when Seth Smith lined out to second baseman Alberto Gonzalez.
Streaking.
Jonathan Herrera hit .300 in April with a .424 on-base percentage before a .253-.286 May. He was hitless in 20 at-bats in June before his line drive glanced off Anthony Rizzo’s glove for a single in the sixth.
