ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Health officials in New Mexico and Colorado are warning residents in some parts of the two states that smoke from wildfires burning in New Mexico and Arizona are resulting in poor air quality conditions.

Officials expect moderate to heavy smoke from the Track fire burning along the New Mexico-Colorado border to move into southern Colorado on Wednesday and Thursday.

Smoke from the Wallow fire burning in eastern Arizona and western New Mexico is also expected to drift to the northeast over the next two days.

Smoke from the Loop fire in southeastern New Mexico is also affecting the city of Carlsbad and surrounding areas.

Officials say people with heart or lung disease, older adults and children should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion in the areas affected by the smoke.
