FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Rep. Cory Gardner has withdrawn as a co-sponsor of a bill to provide tax credits for natural gas development after conservatives objected.

Gardner was one of the original co-sponsors in April of the resolution.

Spokeswoman Rachel Boxer says Gardner decided the bill was giving natural gas a black eye and removed his name.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan, conservative groups such as the Heritage Foundation and Americans for Prosperity have criticized the bill as a subsidy aimed at picking winners and losers in energy choices.
