The event — hosted by the Assumption of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Denver — spotlights homemade delectable dishes, from flaming-cheese appetizers to dessert baklava topped with honey syrup. Let freedom ring

Today. A 10 a.m. parade beginning at Manual High School, 1700 E. 28th Ave., and ending in Historic Five Points kick-starts Denver’s Juneteenth Festival, hosted by the Friends of Blair Caldwell African American Research Library Foundation. Live entertainment during this annual festival in honor of the day sometimes called Freedom Day or Emancipation Day includes SistaSoul, Wil Guice and Dae Dai, as well as a special gospel tribute. Vendors showcasing African-American food, clothing, jewelry and other merchandise also are part of the event, which this year also includes a tennis demonstration by the U.S. Tennis Association. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., 2601 Welton St. Sheba R.
