Despite Wednesday’s loss, interleague play has been very, very good to the Rockies. They won two out of three in the series, giving them a 4-2 record in their first two interleague series. Nothing unusual there. The Rockies are 52-32 in interleague games since 2006, the best record in the National League in that span.
Wiggin’ out.
Ty Wigginton spent four years in the American League before signing with the Rockies. His fifth-inning solo homer was his first at Progressive Field in 66 at-bats. Sure enough, he followed it up with another in his next at-bat.
Hammel time.
Jason Hammel had allowed one home run in 43 innings on the road before catching too much of the plate with a 2-2 fastball to Travis Hafner in the sixth. Hammel has served up six homers in 49 2/3 innings at Coors Field.
