“Roughing it” isn’t the best phrase to use to describe Janet’s Camp, the annual backyard party that Janet Elway hosts for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. It’s always held in a deluxe location — this year, Pam and former Denver Bronco Steve Watson opened their Greenwood Village estate — and the food, while campground inspired, has a definite gourmet twist. It’s also different from your garden variety campout in that it raises enough money to send 380 children from low-income families to YMCA Summer Day Camp.
