PUEBLO, Colo.—A Pueblo scientist says a brown trout fishery could be expanded on Fountain Creek if water quality could be improved.

CSU-Pueblo researcher Del Nimmo says studies show selenium and mercury in Upper Fountain Creek, Monument Creek and Lower Fountain Creek.

Nimmo tells the Pueblo Chieftain that researchers found large brown trout, some up to seven years old, in Upper Fountain Creek. He says the fish could spread farther downstream if the right conditions are maintained.
