After more than 200 weeks, our haiku contest is going on sabbatical and will be replaced by a different type of challenge starting soon. So for our goodbye, we’re recommending writers enter Koko’s Haiku Twitter contest, which benefits The Gorilla Foundation. Koko is the western lowland gorilla who paints and communicates in American Sign Language. Haikus to celebrate Koko’s birthday on July 4 can be submitted via Twitter through Thursday. Entrants, who must be at least 18 and signed up with , need to tweet to the @kokotweets account with the hashtag #kokohaiku. Here’s an example: Koko gives us love,
