Mileage Plus will be the loyalty program beginning in 2012 for United and Continental airlines, United Continental Holdings Inc. announced Wednesday.
“Moving to a single loyalty program is a significant milestone in the integration of the two airlines,” according to an airline statement. United agreed last year to buy Continental for $3 billion.
Continental’s OnePass frequent-flier program will end Dec. 31. Those members will be automatically enrolled in Mileage Plus, and their Continental award miles will be deposited into their Mileage Plus accounts.
In a separate issue, flight attendants from the merged airline picked the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA to represent their combined group Tuesday.
