Colorado Master Gardeners
Representatives from Gardening Help, a joint program of Colorado State University Extension Master Gardeners and Denver Botanic Gardens, are available to answer gardening questions. Gleaning of Denver Project
History Colorado and Slow Food Denver have partnered for the inaugural Gleaning of Denver project that provides community members an opportunity to pick fruit and learn how to process it. If you have a fruit tree or vine on your property, you can register them for potential harvesting on the website . Those interested in picking fruit (must be 13 or older) can sign up. You can also volunteer to can the fruit after it has been picked. Classes are scheduled; participants take home canned fruit, and a portion will be donated to Project Angel Heart. $15, $10 members of History Colorado or Slow Food Denver. July 9: Looking for volunteers to remove noxious weeds including diffuse knapweed, scotch thistle and others and to reseed disturbed areas, 8-11:30 a.m. Must have sturdy footwear (no tennis shoes, sandals or flip-flops), bring gloves, sunscreen and lots of water. Master Gardeners’ Garden Tour
July 31: Jefferson County CSU Extension Master Gardeners’ Annual Garden Tour, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. “Homegrown Tour” is the theme and six gardens in Golden, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge are included. $12, $10 seniors, free children under 12. Proceeds benefit the Master Gardener Fund which supports County horticulture programs and awards a scholarship to a Colorado State University student majoring in horticulture or landscape design.
