Getting your player ready...
It’s become a summer ritual for New Mexico orthodontist Greg Jorgensen, and it doesn’t involve filling cavities. For more than a decade, Jorgensen has cleared his calendar of regular dental patients to make custom-fitted mouth guards for about 300 football players from Volcano Vista, Cibola, Rio Rancho and Cleveland high schools. And he does it for free. A patient would expect to spend about $280 to get this specific work done. This year, at $280 per for roughly 380 players, that amounts to about $106,000 of donated services. “It’s just a good way to give back to the community,” Jorgensen said.
