The Avett Brothers won over Colorado in August 2009 with four shows in as many days — Telluride, Steamboat, Boulder, Denver. One month later, they released “I and Love and You” on Columbia Records, an album that cracked the Top 20 and eventually led them to the Grammy stage (performing alongside Bob Dylan and Mumford & Sons). This weekend, the Avetts will return to Colorado with an intimate show at the Boulder Theater tonight and a sure-to-be memorable summer night at Red Rocks tomorrow. These days, they’re seasoned road vets (but really, they always were), their fans know every word to every song (but they always did) and folk-country-bluegrass is virtually mainstream (thanks, largely, to them). Tickets for both shows are sold out, but try your luck outside the venues.
And in case you can’t make it Saturday, Avetts opener Grace Potter will headline her own show at the Ogden Theatre on Sunday. Tickets, $25, are available through Ticketmaster.
