DENVER—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is taking comments from Colorado businesses back to Washington as President Barack Obama’s administration hears from dozens of communities on how to support business growth.
Vilsack said he met in Denver on Friday with about 30 Colorado business leaders, including some from the mining, agriculture, outdoor recreation, energy and telecommunications industries. He says they expressed the need for comprehensive immigration reform, streamlined federal decision making, and stable regulations, so businesses have some predictability as they make investments.
Vilsack says they also discussed creating year-round recreation in ski resort towns, and they urged quick action by Congress on pending free-trade agreements with South Korea, Colombia and Panama.
Colorado agriculture commissioner John Salazar, water policy adviser John Stulp and Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado also attended the meeting.
