FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Joe Blake is stepping down as chancellor of the Colorado State University system.

Colorado State officials announced Thursday that Blake has notified the board of governors that he plans to retire soon. University officials are in the process of looking for a new president of the Pueblo campus.

Blake was named chancellor of the CSU system in May 2009. He has overseen a three-campus system, which includes an online campus.

Blake previously served as president and chief executive of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce for nearly a decade. He says he’ll continue to work for the CSU system as an advocate for donor and alumni relations.
