DENVER—Authorities say several children and a woman were hurt in a traffic accident involving a Denver Public Schools bus and a car.

Denver Police spokeswoman Vicki Ferrari says the children were taken to three hospitals but that their injuries were not serious. Ferrari says a woman in her 20s was driving the car that crashed with the bus Friday at about 4 p.m. She was also hospitalized but was not seriously hurt.

The number of children injured is unclear. Ferrari says nine were reportedly injured but Denver Fire spokesman Lt. Phil Champagne says a couple were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Champagne says emergency responders had to extricate the woman from her car.

It wasn’t immediately known how the accident southeast of Denver occurred.

The children were of high-school age.
