A second round of thunderstorms pounded the northern metro area Friday night.

Michelle Halstead, Commerce City spokeswoman, reported that a funnel cloud was sighted at East 74th Avenue and York Street as a storm moved through Commerce City. The sirens were sounded at 7:18 p.m., with an all-clear issued at 7:48 p.m., she said.

The National Weather Service said there were no confirmed reports of tornadoes, though severe thunderstorms with rotating clouds prompted some scares for residents.

Westminster dispatchers said a portion of Sheridan Boulevard near West 92nd Avenue was shut down briefly during the storm because of flooding. Authorities there also fielded multiple calls about flooded basements and fallen trees, but no one was reported injured.

Thornton and Broomfield dispatchers also said they received reports of some flooding, but there was no one in need of a rescue.

Some streets remained flooded long after the rain stopped.

The storm also caused some flight delays at Denver International Airport, most about 30 minutes.
