Editor’s note: All month long we’re inviting artists into to record in advance of their appearance at this year’s , July 21-24 on South Broadway in Denver.

Listening to the steady grooves of can be deceiving. A seemingly indie-rock symphony bounces from left to right in your headphones — though each and every sound is produced by the modest duo of Kristian Dunn and Tim Fogerty. Through a mix of loops, effects, samples, a double guitar and a host of other instruments, a nuanced, textured sound emerges from nothing more than eight limbs. A few of us caught the end of their set in Lawrence, Kan. before a garage rock festival last October, and we’ll be packed in early to watch them headline the first night of the UMS on July 21.
