Colorado State’s Mychal Sisson was named to the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, given to the nation’s most outstanding defensive player, the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Football Writers Association of America announced Friday.

A 5-foot-11, 207-pound linebacker from Duncanville, Texas, Sisson is the first CSU player on the Nagurski watch list since Jesse Nading in 2007.

Sisson enters his senior season leading the nation in career tackles for loss (38 1/2). In 2010, he ranked first in the country with seven forced fumbles.

The five finalists will be announced Nov. 17.

Sisson, a four-year starter, is a first-team all-Mountain West selection in most preseason publications.

Cody Hawkins leads U.S. win.

Former University of Colorado quarterback Cody Hawkins threw for 204 yards and two touchdowns to help the U.S. national team to a 61-0 rout of Australia at the IFAF Senior World Championship in Austria.

Hawkins completed 13-of-15 passes and threw a 4-yard TD pass to Nate Kmic and an 18-yarder to Alex Anderson.
