A Colorado man died over the weekend in a motorcycle crash in Wyoming.
James J. Beydler, 58, of Johnstown, died Friday when the motorcycle he was driving crossed a highway line into oncoming traffic, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened about 11:45 a.m. on Interstate 80 in Carbon County on a section of highway in a construction zone.
Beydler was driving westbound on a 2008 Honda 600 with another motorcycle driver from Colorado, James Atkins, 65, of Loveland, when Beydler crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by a man from Kansas.
“Upon impact, Beydler was totally ejected from the motorcycle,” the patrol said. “Atkins then collided with Beydler’s motorcycle.”
Atkins, who was driving a 2005 Suzuki, was taken to Memorial Hospital in Rawlins. Further details on his injuries were not available.
Three out of four people in the Impala were taken to Memorial to be treated for injuries. The fourth person in the car was treated and released. Further details on their injuries were not available.
The fatal crash happened “in a 65 mph construction zone where all motorists had been diverted onto the eastbound side of the Interstate where there was two-way opposing traffic,” the release said.
It’s unknown why Beydler’s motorcycle crossed the dividing line.
