A former Springs Community Church youth group volunteer faces two years to life in prison after pleading guilty Monday to having a three-year sexual relationship with his family’s teenage baby sitter, a prosecutor said.

Eric Vincent Caverly, 37, admitted in court that he first seduced the girl in 2007, when she was 15 years old.

With the young woman and her family watching from a front row, Caverly, who is free on a $25,000 bond, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss five additional counts under a plea agreement approved by 4th Judicial District Judge David S. Prince.

The judge ordered a sex offender evaluation and a pre-sentencing report ahead of Caverly’s Sept. 26 sentencing.
