Federal and state regulators Friday closed Colorado Capital Bank’s seven branches in the state. Monday, the banks opened with a new owner — First Citizens Bank & Trust Co. of Raleigh, N.C.

The Colorado Capital Banks, headquartered in Castle Rock, and Signature Bank, of Windsor, were both closed by state and federal regulators Friday. Signature Bank was sold to Points West Community Bank of Julesberg.

The new company is “going to evaluate all the operations, for now it’s the same people,” according to First Citizen’s spokeswoman Barbara Thompson said.

Just one business day in, Thompson said the transition to the new owners has gone smoothly, which is how First Citizens likes things.

“We value long-term relationships,” Thompson said.
