
Here’s the problem with trying a new recipe: You’re probably going to have to go to the store. Here’s a solution: “The Stocked Kitchen,” by Sarah Kallio and Stacey Krastins (Atria), which promises more than 300 recipes based on a single shopping list. Tear out a list from the back of the book (it’s organized by grocery store section), tick off the items, stock the cupboard and coast.
Curry Chicken Salad

Ingredients
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups cooked, cooled and diced chicken
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion
1/2 cup raisins or dried cranberries
Directions
Mix together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, curry powder and salt. Add the chicken, green onion and raisins. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.
